Filming with our National Athletes for SEA Games
The WolFang Digital team is busy filming our national athletes at their training grounds. We are shooting light, always on the move as we have limited time with each athlete due to their busy training schedule.
Travelling with limited shooting gear is always a challenge. We had to select the best camera gear for the job but the scenario that we are given is always different when you arrive on location. So we had to be prepared for anything.
We had been using the MG gimbal from FeiYu Tech in our previous shoots which were much physically tougher than this including weather and terrain. So we chose this as our primary camera support. The MG gimbal was versatile (we could quickly switch between its multiple operating configurations) and hassle-free.
There was no contest for our top pick for camera. The Sony A7SII has been our go to camera for tough shoots. Its small size, excellent 4K footage quality, rugged built and choice of good quality, light lenses put the A7SII at the top of our list.
Our biggest challenge was the limited time we had with each athlete, so we had to be prepared for anything and shoot anywhere. Scenes with dialog had to be adjusted on the fly with a quick turnaround time.
The best experience we had was filming our national rugby team, the Rugby Sevens. Running with the players on the field and hoping you don’t get knocked down by the brawny athletes as you’re trying to get the perfect footage, that was a great experience.

Although it wasn’t a physically difficult shoot, the short turnaround time and uncertainty of each location with each athlete meant there was absolutely no room for error. Our primary gear did a great job in helping us get the shots. Standby for the completed video.
