Sony's open house. On display included the Sony EX1 and Steadicam Zephyr. Awesome gear were everywhere!

We were invited to the new Sony Broadcast & Professional Centre open house, organized by Tegas Broadcast & Multimedia and Sony. The center is the first in the South East Asia region.

Two awesome new video cameras were officially launched today by MD of Sony Malaysia, Mr H. Sugiyama together with MD of Tegas, Mr Seow Dan Ping.

Sugiyama san stated the lack of support for professional Sony products for the ENG and film making industry in Malaysia. He promised that this center will change all that. This commitment is met by providing a well equipped sales outlet, showroom and training center with competitive pricing with knowledgeable staff.

The new HXR- NX70P the industry’s first rain and dust proof HD video camera, targeted at rugged ENG professionals.

The FS1000 shared the podium with the NX70. The NEX-FS100P is an interchangeable lens HD video camera that is aimed at professional film makers. It features a Super 35mm sensor with balanced audio inputs that is aimed at current HDSLR users, offering an all in one solution.

Tegas and Sony delighted guests with exciting price cuts on their products, especially their professional range of cameras and accessories.

Also featured during the event were the new GoPro HD line of wearable cameras, the Hero was also on display. The industry’s long awaited Apple ProRes transcoder and HD recorder, the Atomos Ninja also made its appearance.

What caught my eye and maintained its mesmerizing hold on me was the Steadicam Zephyr and Pilot. It captivated me so much that I totally neglected taking more pictures of the other products!

Tegas put their Zephyr vest on display and I was able to try it on with the Pilot sled and arm. Everything about the Steadicam systems screamed high-precision and quality build. This is truly the zenith of camera stabilization system.

One one more blab about Steadicam, we also saw the Merlin in action. Ma Chiau Ran, my friend and videographer promptly attached his brand new FS100 onto it and took it for a spin.
