One of the films we made exclusively for this workshop titled “Alpha One: The Hunter”

It was all hard work and hectic camcorder tests in preparation for this opportunity to collaborate with Sony.

Participants came from Malacca, Muar, Johore, including overseas guests from Myanmar and Brunei.

Since the star of the show was Sony’s new HXR-MC1500 HD camcorder, we were given one to play with and so began our testing and research.

We produced 2 films with the HD capable camcorder. The first is a documentary of the 4th Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta. The second is a short action film ‘Alpha One: The Hunter’ which is made in association with Saito College.

Each of the films were shot entirely with the HXR-MC1500 HD camcorder. The films were edited in native format with Grass Valley Edius 6. No transcoding was necessary. No colour grading was applied, not even a single video filter was used.

The room in Cititel Hotel was packed to the brim as participants arrived from various parts of the country. We expected 25 attendees but eventually, more than 35 showed up. Participants came from Kedah (north), Malacca, Muar, Johore (south) and from as far as Brunei and Myanmar.

We helped participants with videography techniques as well as discuss the methods we used to produce our 2 films. Attendees who brought along their camcorders like the VG20 got to gather additional tips and tricks from us and Sony engineers.
